History

Constructed in 1992, it was first used as a house for the Supervisor of the construction of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.

Rooms were also put aside for Thomas Telford himself to see the progress of his dream.

The original house was called Scotch Hall, as it still says above the porch door today, Telford’s own choice of name for his occasional residence.

The building remained a private dwelling until 1981 when it was first licensed and changed into a public house
